When to use:
- to encourage students to make connections as they read
- scaffolding with students who need extra support
How to use:
1. Give students a copy of the text they can write on (or use sticky notes).
2. Students are to mark text in the following way:
√ next to statements he/she agrees with
! next to statements that appear to be the main idea
? next to statements that is confusing
