Concept Sorts
When to use:
- to introduce a topic and vocabulary
- to help students make connections
How to use:
1. Introduce the book or section students are going to read
2. Teacher will choose relevant/ important vocabulary terms
3. Write or print out the terms on cards ( 1 per card) and make several sets
4. Create or label the categories OR help students with creating categories
5. Students will sort the cards. They can do this individually, in pairs, or in small groups.
